Cricket is the number one summer sport in England and Wales and more girls are picking up a bat and ball than ever before. In conjunction with our education partner Chance to Shine, we have already introduced cricket to more than one million girls and through TeamUp we want to help teachers and schools bring even more girls into the sport.
Cricket is an adaptable game which can suit players of all ages and abilities. It can be played in a school hall, on a playground or on the school field - you don't need a special place to play - just a bat and a ball!
As World Cup winners in 2017 the England Women's team is helping to raise the profile of women's cricket even higher and more schools and clubs are creating new girls' teams - over 737 clubs now run women's and girls' sections, an increase of 14% over the last two years. The new All Stars Programme for 5 to 8 year olds is also providing a great opportunity for all KS1 pupils to transition easily into community activity.
